Qunisha has 14 years of experience in the social services field and joined the staff of SAFE in 2018. She supervises the staff, operations and evaluation of SAFE’s Family Shelter and Community Shelter Program which provides shelter and services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. Prior to coming to SAFE, she previously served as Program Director for a residential treatment center for adolescent girls in the child welfare or juvenile justice systems. She has held the following positrons: Senior Teen Advocacy Specialist serving as guardian ad litem for teens in the foster care and juvenile justice system; a high school counselor working with vulnerable populations, a youth care worker and case advocate for kids in foster care. She received her Master’s degree in Social Work from The University of Texas at Austin along with a certificate in Nonprofit leadership. Qunisha uses both her lived experience as a former youth in foster care and her professional experience to creatively serve survivors of domestic violence, child abuse and other types of intimate personal violence.
